What ‘Strike’ Is It?

We agree that a language is deep affected by a culture where the language lives in. Let’s take a sample. In bahasa, time is represented by word ‘pukul’. This word is similar with a sundanese one ‘tabuh’. Both mean ‘strike’.

In the past, our ancient used ‘kentongan’, a drum made from bamboo or wood which is struck to sound an alarm. That’s why our people ask ‘what strike is it?’ for ‘what time is it?’.
